Power should create new problems
If every breakthrough only makes the hero stronger, progression becomes flat. Better breakthroughs unlock new enemies, new responsibilities, new costs, and new temptations.
Checklist
- Can a new reader explain the first three realms in one sentence?
- Does each realm change what scenes are possible?
- Do rare resources create conflict instead of appearing for free?
- Can weaker characters still matter through planning, terrain, formations, or politics?
- Does advancement reveal character growth, not just bigger numbers?
